These Low-Carb Jalapeño Popper Crisps Are So Much Better Than Chips

Salty snacks like chips and pretzels are dangerous. Open a bag and before you know it you've downed a thousand calories, hundreds of milligrams of sodium and a whole lotta carbs. Everyone know it's impossible to have just one chip. But there's a better way to snack, and it involves cheese ... and bacon.

Frico, or baked cheese crisps, have all the crunch and saltiness of potato chips, but none of the starchy carbs. These Jalapeño Popper Crisps, made with Parmesan and cheddar, are also super satisfying, so you won't end up eating a million. Thanks, cheesy protein!

Making them couldn't be easier. If you can grate cheese, you can make frico. Just form little mounds of finely grated cheese on parchment paper-lined baking sheets then top them with thin jalapeño slices and bacon bits, if you want. (You do.) Bake for a little more than 10 minutes on a parchment paper-lined sheet try then let them cool for a bit and totally crisp up.

You know how when you make a grilled cheese, the melty cheese that falls into the pan is the best part? That's what frico tastes like after it's baked. Only this version is also wonderfully smoky and spicy too. You'll totally forget you're eating low-carb, gluten-free and keto-friendly. Gosh, you're so good.
